State Representative Will Bruck criticized Governor Whitmer's green energy mandates during her 2024 State of the State address. Bruck expressed concern that these mandates will result in significantly higher electric bills for Michigan residents. He also highlighted the negative impact on workers at the Monroe power plant, who will lose their jobs when coal-powered plants are forced to shut down.

Bruck further emphasized the negative consequences of the mandates on local communities, specifically in Monroe and Lenawee counties. He criticized the loss of local control as state bureaucrats override the wishes of residents and approve the construction of large-scale wind and solar farms in their neighborhoods.

Speaking about the overall direction of Governor Whitmer's address, Bruck stated that her priorities do not align with the priorities of the people of Michigan. He argued that the state is moving in the wrong direction economically, socially, and educationally.

While acknowledging some positive changes that have occurred over the past year, Bruck believes that Michigan needs a different approach to address the challenges facing the state.
