A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Monroe County Election Division on February 5, 2025. The request, submitted by the Monroe Review, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The requested information includes candidates' full names (first, middle, and last), the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, and their party affiliation. Additionally, contact information for each candidate was also requested which includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Monroe Review believe that access to such public records is crucial for our professional responsibilities. This includes providing comprehensive news coverage and ensuring that public institutions are held accountable.
In line with our role as a media organization disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request. We await the response from the Monroe County Election Division regarding this matter.
