The VFW Post & Auxiliary #1138 Monroe, Michigan recently honored the City of Monroe's Police Officer and Firefighter of the year. This is an annual tradition that the VFW has held and the City of Monroe Public's Safety Department is honored to be a part of it.
Police Officer Alexander McKenzie was chosen as officer of the year for many reasons but it was his outreach to the community, fellow citizens and officers that made him a standout in 2021.
Firefighter Frank Palumbo was selected for his "day in and day out" positive attitude towards the community and his fellow firefighters. Firefighter Palumbo is described as a "workhorse" and always willing to help out.
Congratulations to both Officer McKenzie and Firefighter Palumbo on receiving this prestigious honor. Also honored was paramedic Alina Guzzi from Monroe Community Ambulance as Monroe Paramedic of the Year.
