Bedford Public Schools issued the following announcement on Nov 16.
Several classes at Monroe Road Elementary participated in a virtual field trip experience in observance of Veterans Day. This virtual field trip focused on a special exhibit at River Raisin National Battlefield Park in Monroe, Michigan. The exhibit features the various uniforms and equipment that were used by veterans in the armed forces of the United States who served during the Global War on Terrorism.
Students were able to directly interact with the presenter, Mr. Bob Heskett, a member of the volunteer staff at the River Raisin National Battlefield Park and a middle school teacher. Students not only learned about the uniforms and equipment but also about what it means to serve our country along with the personal sacrifices people make to serve and protect the United States.
As an extension activity, students wrote friendly letters to a veteran of their choice to thank them for their service to our country.
Thank you, Veterans!
