At last night’s Roll Call, Director Tolstedt awarded Corporal Brace Timmins the department’s “Life Saving Award” for his quick and decisive action on 4/4/2022. On that date, Corporal Timmins responded to the area of W. Third St & Union St. on reports of a male bleeding from the neck.
Upon arrival, Corporal Timmins observed the male to have a severe cut covering the entirety of his neck. Taking swift and immediate action, and with no hesitation, Corporal Timmins retrieved his medical equipment and began to apply pressure to the male's neck to stop the bleeding. Remaining calm, Corporal Timmins controlled the bleeding on the male until the City of Monroe Fire and Monroe Community Ambulance arrived and continued with the lifesaving efforts. Corporal Timmins decisive actions exhibited courage and fortitude beyond his normal call of duty.
Thanks to Corporal Timmins' actions, and of those by the medical first responders, the male was able to be transported to the hospital and receive additional treatment and begin a long road to recovery.
Thanks in coordination with Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies and Michigan State Police, the suspect was apprehended later that evening.
Corporal Timmins' outstanding professional ability, untiring determination, and steadfast devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the Monroe Public Safety Department.
