Dundee Police Department issued the following announcement on Apr 2.
Dundee Officer Chris McGlynn the new VIPS Coordinator
The Dundee Police Department recently named part-time police officer Chris McGlynn to lead the Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program. Officer McGlynn will be taking over for Lt. Randy Sehl, who was recently promoted and is serving in an administrative role.
The VIPS serve as volunteers at many community events, they assist the police department with many tasks and errands, and also help provide the funding for "Shop with a Cop" each holiday season with revenue that they raise at their annual Golf Outing at the Dundee Golf Course each spring.
Officer McGlynn brings over 34 years of police experience to Dundee. He retired from Sumpter Township Police in 2019 after 28 years of service there. He had also worked at both Monroe and Carleton Police prior to joining Sumpter. While at STPD, Chris was the night shift supervisor, a K-9 handler, ran the animal shelter and supervised the Field Training Officer program for all new officers.
While at Dundee, Chris has substituted as a school resource officer, continues to train new officers, serves as a firearms instructor and also picks up one or two patrol shifts per week.
Chris and his wife and children (and 5 grandchildren) live in the downriver area. We are very fortunate to have Chris and his vast experience here in Dundee. Thank you for stepping up as you always do Officer Chris McGlynn!
