Monroe Police Department issued the following announcement on Mar 8.
The Monroe Police Department would like to introduce you to Tina Dykes, the Department's newest Parking Enforcement Officer. PEO Dykes is a Monroe resident and previously worked in the Monroe Public School System. PEO Dykes would like to answer several commonly asked questions and refer citizens to the City's website (https://www.monroemi.gov/.../departments/treasurer/parking) for further information.
-Is there off street non-metered parking downtown?
-There are a variety of free and metered lots. A map can be found on the website (https://gis.monroemi.gov/.../apps/webappviewer/index.html...)
-How do I contest a parking ticket and/or do downtown businesses offer validated parking?
-Select businesses offer validated parking and all tickets can either be contested online or in person at the Monroe Police Department. Instructions can be found on the City's website.
-How much is my parking ticket?
-A first offense meter and non-meter parking ticket is $10 with a second offense being $25. A full list of parking violation fine can also be found on the City's website.
-How do I pay my ticket?
-Parking tickets can be paid online, by mail, or during regular business hours at Monroe City Hall. Make sure to make prompt payment, unpaid fines double after five (5) business days after issue.
-The Monroe Police Department would also like to remind everyone that bicycles (and Scooters) can be ridden on downtown streets, but have to be walked while on the sidewalk. Green bicycle racks been placed throughout downtown for bicycles to be parked.
