Dundee Police Department recently issued the following announcement.
An update to the situation we shared last night.
Dundee Police and Fire crews responded to the apartments at 611 Rawson at 8:20pm Tuesday night after residents discovered a chemical pressurized device had exploded.
The chemicals in the device caused some minor irritation to the residents and they were evacuated while the situation was made safe. The Michigan State Police Bomb disposal unit and the Washtenaw County Fire Hazmat team responded to assist after a second unactivated device was discovered in the hallway. This device was rendered safe and removed. After the air quality was confirmed to be safe, residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly before midnight.
Evidence was collected at the scene and the investigation is continuing. The Dundee Police Department would like to thank the Michigan State Police Bomb Disposal Unit and the Washtenaw County Hazmat Team for their assistance in helping to make the scene safe for first responders and the residents.
The person or persons who placed the device are unknown at this time. Anyone with any information on the situation is asked to contact the Dundee Police Department at 734/529-3430.
