Around the country and the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted thousands of school districts to roll out online learning programs and deliver curriculum through computer-based educational tools and video meetings.
In Michigan, the situation has been no different. Since March, Michigan students have been learning in an online environment, with state representatives battling back and forth over the best course of action to be taken in the best interest of the students.
Rep. Joe Bellino (R-Monroe) has been a key part of that process, according to Michigan House Republicans. This past month, Bellino was proud to have reached across the aisle to create an agreement that would allow students to return to school for the 2020-21 school year, which many legislators view as absolutely vital to ensure that children are getting proper instruction and parents can return to work and participate in the economy.

This year, there have been unprecedented challenges for Michigan schools and those around the country. However, it appears that Michigan was able to overcome partisanship and conceive a plan that garnered bipartisan support to allow children to return to in-person instruction in the safest way possible.
Bellino is enthusiastic about the budget for the new fiscal year, which has already been approved. This budget features no cuts to education, which is a commendable feat, given the financial challenges that the pandemic has posed to organizations and governments around the world.
Bellino has said that he continues to look forward to working with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to find creative solutions to the unique problems that they face. "If COVID-19 has done one thing, it has shown how our community steps up in times of trouble to have each other’s backs. I am proud to serve each and every one of you," he told Michigan House Republicans.
