Charli Thomas, a Young 5s student at Sterling Elementary School, kick-started the 2022-23 school year by winning the summer Scoops & Stories Back to School Bundle!
Scoops & Stories is the district's summer reading program held at Swirls Ice Cream in Newport. For each event attended from June 13 to Aug. 22, participating students earned an entry into the Back to School giveaway. A weekly winner was selected using a random generator, and the overall winner was randomly chosen from the weekly winners.
Charli won a variety of school supplies, from pencils to pens to notebooks, along with a variety of books that she shared with her sister, Cali Thomas, a third-grader at Eyler Elementary School.
