The last several days of the school year were a whirlwind of celebrations at Bedford Public Schools. There are now 342 new Bedford High School graduates ready to tackle their next adventure as they head off to college, a trade, a job or military service. We can't wait to see what the Class of 2022 does!
Bedford Junior High School said goodbye to their 8th grade class with Pomp and Circumstance in a ceremony on Friday morning. At one point, the principal, Mr. Hurley invites all the students that participated in various activities (sports, music, play, clubs, etc.) to stand up. A lot of students stood up! Some more than once! It is great to see how involved our students are. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish in high school!
The 5th grade students were celebrated at each of our elementary schools before departing to join the junior high in the fall. In addition to the more formal recognition ceremony, the schools and PTOs all did additional things to help create extra special memories of their last days in elementary school. For example, the building at Jackman Road was empty as the students all gathered outside with signs and drawings as the 5th graders did a couple of laps around the building to cheers and music before they gathered for one last “Cha Cha Slide”
Kindergarten students were bid a fond farewell by their teachers. Each school celebrated in a different way. That ranged from a learning new lyrics set to the Journey tune “ Don’t Stop Believing,” celebrations in classrooms, picnics outside, and JRE students making fashion statements with customized crowns declaring that they were ready for First Grade!
Whether the student was finishing their first year or their last at Bedford or getting ready to switch to a new school in the middle of their K-12 experience, it is not hard to feel proud of what they have accomplished to reach that milestone. When you see the smile shining on their faces, you can’t help but smile as well, and feel your heart melt a little bit, too!
Have a great summer!
