Citywide field reviews of residential properties will be taking place between August and November by the city of Monroe’s Assessor’s Office, which will include interviewing owners and tenants, leaving letters if no one is home and walking around the house taking measurements and photos.
The Assessor’s Office will be reviewing the building class, the physical condition, foundation “footprint” configuration and checking dimensions, according to the City of Monroe's website. This was last done between 2011 and 2016.
Inspections will also make sure property record card data is accurate. If it’s not accurate, the card will be updated with the most recent improvements and buildings on the property.
Staff who are making the assessments will be driving vehicles clearly marked as belonging to the City of Monroe, in addition to carrying city identification, according to the website. Assessor staff will also be following proper safety and social-distancing guidelines, including wearing a face mask.
