State Sen. Dale W. Zorn (R-Ida) is criticizing Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s latest executive order concerning COVID-19.
“Gambling indoors is fine, but unemployment offices remain closed for thousands of Michigan residents who need them,” the senator said in a Facebook post.
He also posted two pictures, one of a casino and the other of an unemployment office. The casino has a large green check mark beside it, while the unemployment office has a large red "X."

Under Whitmer’s executive order issued July 29, casinos may reopen Aug. 5, but only at 15% capacity.
“Casinos must also, among other things, conduct a daily entry screening protocol for customers and employees, temperature screening,” Whitmer said, according to Michigan.gov. “Casinos must require patrons to wear a face covering, except while eating or drinking or for identification purposes.”
As of Aug. 7, there have been over 86,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Michigan and over 6,200 deaths, according to Michigan.gov.
