DescriptionWith great honor, The Detroit Jazz Festival presents a one-of-a-kind evening of music and poetry on the eve of the 2019 festival.
Under the rubric of jazz, they welcome a cast of creative musicians representing the profound breadth of Detroit music’s reach. Internationally lauded poet Jessica Care Moore and Detroit-based vocal artist Kenny Watson will perform alongside our After Dark monthly residents De’Sean Jones and his ensemble, KNMDK.
After Dark house DJs Nervous Recs & Nick Speed will offer special music before, between and after performances.
This event was conceived under the partnership of KNMDK Records, FTMF Talent, Uncanned Music & the Detroit Foundation Hotel who proudly support a new era in Detroit music that hoists up a diversity of contemporary voices — observing musical traditions while forging new modes of expression.
This event is all ages and free of charge.
