Rep. Jamie Thompson, a Michigan state legislator, recently used her social media platform to highlight her positions on health care licensure and parental involvement in education.

On October 31, 2025, Rep. Thompson expressed support for legislative efforts to expand health care access in Michigan through professional licensure compacts. She stated, "Licensure compacts are essential for improving health care access in Michigan. That’s why I voted YES on bills to establish compacts for:

Nurses

Physical therapists

Occupational therapists

Professional counselors

Audiologists

Speech language pathologists".

The following day, November 1, 2025, Rep. Thompson posted a link without additional commentary: "https://t.co/vb5m1wguaZ".

Later that same day, she commented on parental concerns regarding school sex education boards. In her post from November 1, she wrote: "Michigan parents are fed up!

Rep Thompson testified in the House Oversight Committee and slammed rogue sex education boards. #Michigan #parentaladvisory #downrivermichigan".

Licensure compacts allow professionals such as nurses and therapists to practice across state lines more easily by streamlining licensing requirements among participating states. These agreements have been adopted by many states to address workforce shortages and improve patient access to care.

Recent debates in Michigan have included increased scrutiny of local school boards' handling of sex education curricula. Lawmakers and some parent groups have called for greater transparency and oversight of these processes.
