On August 6, 2025, Rep. Thompson marked World Breastfeeding Week with a message emphasizing the broader benefits of breastfeeding. She wrote, "Breastfeeding isn’t “just feeding” — it’s immunity, comfort, connection, and POWER. Happy World Breastfeeding Week Mommas! #breastfeedingmama #breastisbest #breastfeed".

The following day, August 7, she commented on a situation involving Child Protective Services (CPS) and local law enforcement. Expressing frustration about CPS's response compared to that of the sheriff’s department, Rep. Thompson stated: "This story makes me sick. And I am so angry that CPS has the nerve to criticize the sheriff’s department for trying to help this family while CPS did basically nothing I’m looking into what changes we need to make!"

World Breastfeeding Week is an annual global campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of breastfeeding for infants and mothers' health. The event is observed every year from August 1st to 7th by organizations worldwide.
