State Representative Jamie Thompson participated in a mental health roundtable in Monroe County on June 23. The event included state Rep. Jim DeSana, state Sen. Joe Bellino, and various local officials and advocacy representatives. Discussions focused on mental health issues across the county, resource allocation, community engagement, and support services to ensure people receive necessary care.
Thompson emphasized the importance of access, funding, and partnerships in addressing gaps within state and local mental health systems. "Access, funding and partnerships are keys to getting people needed care and addressing gaps that may exist in our state and local mental health systems," said Thompson. She represents Berlin and Frenchtown Townships as part of the 28th House District.
The discussions aimed to identify what is effective and what needs improvement for groups specializing in mental health work. Thompson stated her commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through legislative efforts: "We must continue to support our vulnerable communities and seek real solutions. I’ll continue fighting for the health and well-being of our families in the Legislature, and conversations like this help tremendously."
