FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments in 2024 on September 26, 2024

FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments in 2024 on September 26, 2024.

In a recent move to promote transparency and accountability, we at DeKalb Times have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140). The request was made specifically for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024.

The information sought includes specific fields such as the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount involved in each transaction. As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to such public records is crucial for us.

Our primary aim is to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public. We believe that by accessing these records and disseminating this information, we can better fulfill our professional responsibilities. In light of our role in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We are currently awaiting a response from Dekalb County regarding our request.
