LANSING, Mich. - Ben Negron, a long-time resident of Adrian and community advocate, was welcomed by Sen. Joseph Bellino, R-Monroe, to the Michigan Capitol on Wednesday night as his guest for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's 2024 State of the State address.

Negron, who has resided in Adrian for over 40 years, is the store director at the Meijer in Adrian. His dedication to his work and community has been recognized through the prestigious 2022 Fred Meijer Award. The award is bestowed annually to an individual who exemplifies the values and mission established by company founder Fred Meijer, which include leadership grounded in humility, generosity, and a commitment to serving others. Being the highest-level recognition for a Meijer employee, it is a testament to Negron's outstanding contributions.

Last year, the Adrian City Commission acknowledged Negron's achievements by presenting him with a proclamation. The proclamation commended Negron for earning the Fred Meijer Award and praised his many years of community service and advocacy work in the Adrian area.

Sen. Bellino expressed his gratitude and admiration for Negron, stating, "I am honored to have Ben Negron as my guest for Gov. Whitmer's State of the State address. Ben's dedication to his community and his embodiment of the values championed by Fred Meijer make him a true leader and role model."

Negron's presence at the State of the State address highlights the importance of community involvement and recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to make a positive impact. It serves as a reminder of the value that ordinary citizens can bring to their communities through their dedication and service.
