CELEBRATE ARBOR DAY APRIL 29!! National Arbor Day is Friday, April 29, 2022. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the tree planter’s holiday, and we’re excited to celebrate here in Petersburg! Please join us on Friday, April 29 from 9:00am to 5:00pm for cookies and drinks at the Municipal Building to commemorate Arbor Day as well as the City’s 13 years as a Tree City community.
While most holidays celebrate something that has already happened and is worth remembering, Arbor Day represents a hope for the future. The simple act of planting a tree represents a belief that the tree will grow to provide us with clean air and water, cooling shade, habitat for wildlife, healthier communities, and endless natural beauty—all for a better tomorrow.
The City will continue its practice of planting several trees in the fall. Applications will be available late summer.
