Middle School DAILY Announcement BOARD - February 17, 2022

Ida Public School District issued the following announcement on Feb 17.

Good morning, Ida Middle School!  …  Just a reminder when you get to school in the mornings, your phones need to be turned off and stored in your lockers!  This is in the handbook.

**Math counts is cancelled after school today.  The test will be held in room #2 during 5th and 6th hours today. Bring chrome books and pencils.

**8th graders interested in leaving Ida to go to the Monroe Middle College, you need to pick up a release form from the office and have a parent sign and return it to Mrs. Butz before tomorrow.

**Next Tuesday is “Two’s Day” 2/22/22 - this will be our February PRIDE competition, to dress up as a twin with someone, with tutus, or two of something , but don’t forget we don’t have school on Monday due to President’s Day so you’ll have to help remind each other to dress up for Two’s Day on Tuesday!!

** Now for January Student of the Month…**Congratulations to the following students for being nominated for January Student of the Month.  These students have been recognized for their good citizenship, effort, manners, dependability, and their positive attitudes!

The nominees are as follows:

5th Grade:  Connor Watterworth, Ryan Ashcraft, Oliver Hearl, David Worrell, Alyssa Kitts, Tenley Gillean, Paisley Mason & Josie Ansel

6th Grade:  Tanner Heiden, Noah Peterson, Steven Riley, Blake Bailey, Logan Mitchey, Cameron Cogan, Emelia Benson, Quinn O’Rourke, Madeline Capling, Lilah Derian, Lily O’dell & Kinsey Arnold

7th Grade:  Dane Holycross, Westin Phebus, Nick Odette, Carter Derian, Jackson Jones, Hailey Mundy, Abby Arnold, Libbie Wolfenbarger & Anna Wyrabkiewicz

The Winners of January’s Student of the Month are:

8th Grade:  Jacob Young & Kaidence Weaver

Congratulations to all of you who were nominated and chosen!  We are so proud of each and every one of you for displaying such awesome citizenship and kindness!  Keep up the great work Bluestreaks!  If you would all come to the office after announcements to pick up your certificates, we would appreciate it!  

**Team USA picked up additional medals last night, that increases our count to 21!   We picked up a silver and a bronze yesterday. Medal count for Team USA in the Winter games 2022… 8 gold, 7 silver, 4 bronze. Unfortunately, our women’s hockey team lost last to Team Canada, 3-2.

SPORTS NEWS

**The 7th grade girls’ basketball team lost a close game to Blissfield last night by a score of 22 to 17.  Leading in scoring for the BlueStreak’s was Addy Swiderski with 12 points.  She was followed by Libbie Wolfenbarger with 8 points.  Alli Schrader had  7 points and Chloe Karl finished with 2 points.  Both Schrader and Wolfenbarger scored a 3-point shot in the 2nd half.

**The 8th grade basketball team lost to a good Blissfield team last night. Alyssa Torres and Brooklyn Johnson led the scoring with 4 points each. Alexa Swiderski and Madalyn Lutz each added 2 points. While Brandie Gobrecht and Emily Lambert put in one free throw. Keep working hard ladies.

**Tonight, as far as we know, our wrestlers will still be at Dundee for their 2nd to last meet of the season!  If something changes due to the weather conditions, I’ll let you know!  Our fella’s will finish out their season, again, at Dundee this Saturday.

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS:

**In honor of February being “healthy heart month”, the Student Council will be having a jump rope competition this week and a knock-out competition next week during lunch.  Each grade will have a different day, please see the posters in the hallway. Grade level winners will receive a $25 gift card of their choice. Today will be for 7th grade after lunch (instead of going outside)if you are interested and tomorrow will 8th graders. This will also be the same order next week for the knockout competition.

**Remember, it’s a GREAT day to be a BLUESTREAK!
